Good value! Affordable enough that each student can have their own. I ended up adding a probe and a few more pins to complete the set for my uses, but they still fit nicely in the case. With just a little customization, it works perfectly.

The Right Tools Make a Difference

The right tools make all the difference in many areas, and dissection is no different. The scapel is sharp--be careful! supervise young teens and inexperienced older teens--and makes cutting easy. The scissors cut through bone easily and the teasing needles and forceps are well made and useful, including using them to dissect owl pellets. All in all, quality tools that make the difference and will last a long time.

This was an excellent buy. Tools very useful and sharp. 7th/8th graders easily dissected a frog without any difficulty with these tools. Perfect for homeschoolers. A few more pins would be useful, so purchase these separately.

The tools are a mix of high and moderate quality. The scalpel is identical to the ones I used in a university-level human anatomy class dissection, the scissors are very nice, the pipet was actually glass (I was expecting plastic). The needles and foreceps are alright, but no complaints for the price. The case is pretty good as well, similar to pencil cases I had in elementary school which alone cost around $5. I would say its a good starter kit--everything a middle or high schooler / hobbyist needs, and if you're working on a University/Grad/Pro level it provides the basics for a good price and you can supplement it rather than buying a more expensive basic kit.  -  Monday, March 15, 2010 Great Kit!
