The AntWorks "space-age habitat" isn't your typical ant farm!
Instead of sand, AntWorks uses a unique nutrient gel based on a NASA experiment testing ants' ability to tunnel in microgravity. With this kit, you can watch ants up close as they chew their way through the see-through gel, creating fascinating tunnel designs.
All you need to do is add ants, by redeeming the included coupon or catching your own. The nutrient gel takes care of feeding and watering, making this a complete easy-to-care-for habitat that's great for all ages.
The clear acrylic habitat is 6.5" long x 6.0" tall x 1.25" deep. This kit includes a magnifying glass, high-power “extreme zoom lens”, tunnel starter tool, instructions, and a coupon for live harvester ants, redeemable in all US states except HI. We recommend Ants Alive, which offers fast delivery and boasts 20+ years of live ant distribution. (When you redeem the coupon there is an additional S&H charge starting at $5, with multiple options available.) No assembly required. The AntWorks gel is non-toxic. Ages 6 & up.
Antworks was chosen as one of the Best Inventions of 2005 by TIME magazine.

I ordered this product for my grandson (with the blessings of my daughter!) and they received it promptly. We are really impressed with the quality of the ant farm and it will be an enjoyable learning tool for my grandson and his parents! We are looking forward to ordering more quality products from Home Science. Thank you!

Maybe we did something wrong. We did use our own ants because we couldn't use the coupon in Canada. The ants for the first few days just sat there grooming themselves, and didn't start burrowing in the tunnels until days later, and then, in general, it was only 5 ants doing the work. And when I say "work", that means 5 minutes work and 1/2 our grooming. So the tunnels were just 3 or 4 little nubs coming off the holes we made. They all started dying pretty consistently too, and eventually started to mold. I rinsed out the tank now like it said and we'll go get more ants later. I was disappointed, but it did keep us interested to see the ants up close and all their weird behaviors. I'm hoping it was just a sick bunch of ants to begin with. But like I said, we will do "Round Two".

It is hard getting your gang to wait for the ordered ants to come, but, worth the wait! Those ants do dig from the moment you put them in the farm! We have had our ants for 5 days and they are still going strong and making some amazing tunnels. Has been a great project!

It was great! We bought ants and the first day they started to dig it was so cool. After about 2 or 3 weeks they died and we got more ants from our back yard it was great!Read More Reviews
