Dissection Kit

Overall, the kit was fine. One of the crayfish's claws was separated from the body. Compared to the images in the book, the body cavity of the crayfish was mostly empty, but I have heard this is not unusual for those specimens. Other than that specimens were in good shape.

This dissection kit is perfect so far...haven't actually dissected anything yet! Size of specimens is good. The only problem was a slight leak in one of the bags. I have them all in a ziplock until my daughter uses them.

I was very happy with the quality of the specimens that arrived for dissection. They were much larger than I thought they would be. Shipping was fast and even in the hottest part of the summer everything arrived just fine!

Reviewed By: Amber   I was very pleased with the Apologia Science kits. I searched the web for good prices and found the best here. The only thing I would say is that the dissection animals do have an expiry date and we ended up not using ours before they expired, and when we opened them, they just fell apart. Customer Service was very helpful in expediting our new shipment, and the new ones were fine, but I did have to repurchase the dissection animals twice. Both were too dry, some of the organs crumbled and it was hard to identify some of the organs because of how dehydrated they were. This is just another example of having it all in one place. I don't mind touching everything, so my daughter had a pencil and paper to do the drawings and I did the cutting. After all, you would have a Biology partner in a real class. I am sensitive to chemicals but this was not bad at all. We also did 3 at a time outside on the picnic table on a warm day. My daughter was going to take this and I didn't want her to be without everything she needed. We had looked at the store and found to buy everything would be expensive and we would not be able to get exactly what she needed to do her experiments. When she began, we used a few things from around the house, but most everything was in the kit. Her brother even was able to get in on some of the dissection which he won't do for a few years. She had the pins, something to stick it to besides a cutting board or something else, and we were able to throw away the mess that we made easily. Thanks to Home Science Tools!
