Biology Dissection Kit
This kit is a time-saving choice for your homeschool! It contains everything for the four optional dissection labs in Apologia's Exploring Creation with Biology, including a 15-piece advanced dissecting tool set, dissecting pan, frog dissection guide, and four preserved specimens (frog, perch, crayfish, and earthworm). Our kit order form lists all of the items in this kit. You can order this kit now even if you will be doing the dissections later in the year. This kit also goes well with the Bob Jones HomeSat biology course.
If you want only the dissection specimens, you can order them individually: frog, perch, crayfish & worm.
Shipping Note: This item only ships to a street address in the 50 US states with Standard or UPS shipping options.
Note: Specimens are initially preserved with a formaldehyde solution, the best animal tissue fixative. The formaldehyde is then displaced first with water and finally with a glycol solution to produce a moist, low-fume specimen which can be stored almost indefinitely. We recommend that you use specimens within one year of purchase to ensure the best tissue quality. Specimen discoloration over time is normal and does not indicate decay.
Store your specimens at normal room temperature--refrigeration is not required. Storage in attics or garages at high temperatures will damage the specimens. Once opened, specimens can be resealed in a Zip-lock bag to prevent them from drying out for later use.

Very handy resource

We ordered this kit for Biology with Apologia and have found it to be really useful. The specimens were in good shape and we've had success with it so far. We especially appreciate the fact that instructions came in the kit for the frog - the text book did not have instructions for that one! The only suggestion I have is that you might want to purchase additional pins as we've found them to be too few for our purposes.

great choice

SO glad to have it all in one place

I so appreciate the kits. This is just another example of having it all in one place. I don't mind touching everything, so my daughter had a pencil and paper to do the drawings and I did the cutting. After all, you would have a Biology partner in a real class. I am sensitive to chemicals but this was not bad at all. We also did 3 at a time outside on the picnic table on a warm day. Great lighting and I was glad to have it all there ready to go, Thanks for everything!

I loved this product. My daughter was going to take this and I didn't want her to be without everything she needed. We had looked at the store and found to buy everything would be expensive and we would not be able to get exactly what she needed to do her experiments. When she began, we used a few things from around the house, but most everything was in the kit. Her brother even was able to get in on some of the dissection which he won't do for a few years. She had the pins, something to stick it to besides a cutting board or something else, and we were able to throw away the mess that we made easily. Thanks to Home Science Tools! We love the kits.

Excellent resource for homeschooling students
The specimens were kept in their packaging until ready to dissect throughout the year. The smell was not overpowering at all making it easy to concentrate on the anatomy. Great specimens for learning.
