Break open a plain-looking rock to see if there are quartz crystals inside! You provide a hammer or rock pick and help for young kids. Geodes are formed when mineral deposits build up inside volcanic or sedimentary rock "bubbles." Grades K-12.
Note: Although not every geode contains crystals, they are still fun to break open and have interesting mineral deposits inside.
It's fun to use tools to break something open and find something inside. True treasure-hunt! That said, I wish there was another price range for larger cavity stones which might have more dramatic crystal structures inside. It'd be worth it!

I didn't use a hammer so it was pretty hard to whack it open, but once I did...How amazing it was to see something so beautiful! I felt like I struck gold! I am very excited to add such a beautiful rock to my ever growing collection. Not only was this a fun project but I learned alot too. I recommend everyone buy one of these, not hard to do at these prices and I KNOW you will be satisfied. Happy Whacking!

These Crack-Open Geode's Kit are so cool. You never know what you'll find inside. When mine was cracked open, there was a cool crystal inside.
