The following questions might help you come up with a good botany science fair project: How do different ways of fertilizing affect root growth? How does heat and cold affect sprouting? Does water move differently through different types of soil?
Seeds were two years old when the kit arrived. We had to purchase all new seeds. We actually grew the radishes to maturity but could never see the root through the viewing window. The onions and carrots are still growing, but same thing. I would not recommend this kit. Nice Teaching Tool for Young Kids

My 3.5 yr-old learned a great deal about plants from this kit. I recommend planting the radish seeds because they grow very quickly. After a few days they sprouted and we could see the seed casing with the sprout coming out of it. The clear view allowed us to watch the roots grow, however, our radishes never developed. We're still waiting on the carrots which take longer, and we have one onion plant growing. Even though the vegetables did not develop as shown in the photograph, this kit was a quick and easy way to teach how plants grow from seeds and how plants drink with their roots. My only complaint is that the booklet that came with the kit was not very helpful with tips about how to care and grow the plants.
