    Great Hands on Learning

  • We (kids age 10, 9 and 7) were studying the human eye when we decided to purchase 3 cows eyes to dissect. The price from Home Science Tools was great and the product came promptly. What a wonder for kids to see inside the eye all of the things we had just been learning. We did this a while ago and they still talk about how fun it was. We enjoyed it so much we came back to purchase the intermediate dissection kit.

  • Excellent specimens! Make sure to have sharp, heavier scissors, over dissection scissors, to cut away the fat/muscle around the eye.

      Cow Eye

Cow eye dissection is popular because of the similarity to the human eye. See the cornea, iris, pupil, connecting muscles and veins, and other features. This is a plain preserved specimen of an adult cow eye. 10+ pricing is based on bulk-packed specimens. When necessary, you will receive a combination of 10-packs and individually packed specimens to fill your order.

Note: Specimens are initially preserved with a formaldehyde solution, the best animal tissue fixative. The formaldehyde is then displaced first with water and finally with a glycol solution to produce a moist, low-fume specimen which will not decay over time. Plan to use specimens within one year of purchase to ensure the best tissue quality. Specimen discoloration and dryness over time is normal and does not indicate decay.

Store your specimens at normal room temperature—refrigeration is not required. Storage in attics or garages at high temperatures will damage the specimens. Once opened, specimens can be resealed in a zip-lock bag to prevent them from drying out for later use.
