Cow eye
Cow eye dissection is popular because of the similarity to the human eye. See the cornea, iris, pupil, connecting muscles and veins, and other features. This is a plain preserved specimen of an adult cow eye.
Note: Dissection specimens are initially preserved with a formaldehyde solution, the best animal tissue fixative. The formaldehyde is then displaced with water and then with a glycol solution to produce a moist, low-fume specimen which can be stored almost indefinitely. We recommend that you use specimens within one year of purchase to ensure the best tissue quality. Specimen discoloration over time is normal and does not indicate decay.
Store your specimens at normal room temperature--refrigeration is not required. Storage in attics or garages at high temperatures will damage the specimens. Once opened, specimens can be resealed in a Zip-lock bag to prevent them from drying out for later use. Ages 10 & up.

The demonstration really made an impact! The product arrived in great shape. I would have preferred clearer directions about storage, but other than that I have nothing to suggest for improvements. Thank you Home Science Tools! - Wednesday, February 08, 2012 Cow eye labReviewed By: Lezlie Ordered a large number of eyes and they came in quickly, well preserved. A few had been squished in transit, but not so badly that they could not be used. Students were able to uncover the optic nerve as it exited the eye and the retinas stayed intact longer than previous orders. Great experience for my students! - Tuesday, January 31, 2012 homeschool dissectionReviewed By: Kim My students thoroughly enjoyed dissecting these cow eyes. The eyes were in very good shape, well packed and preserved, and included much of the fat/muscle around the eyeball. My order got to me on the second day after placing it, and that was regular shipping! I'm so thrilled with this company and the products!

- Thursday, February 14, 2008 excellent specimen Best eye specimen I have ordered. I am an eye doctor and go into the classroom quite frequently to dissect the cow eye to compare and contrast it to the human eye. Muscles and optic nerve were already exposed which saved me dissecting time to find these structures.
Fast delivery and no strong preservative smell. A+++++++++ company to deal with.
