Horrible Review by
This product not only failed to worked for my students but it took hours to just get assembled. The directions were a joke writen it poor english and the pictures were inaccurate and poorly drawn. DO NOT BUY!
Great Project Review by
I have built about 20 of these with the 4H kids. Great price point. It is a lot like the ones I built as a kid by cutting up food cans. They were small too. Look at the AA battery for scale. It is a good teaching tool if you precede the build by making electromagnets and complete circuits.
Miserable Failure Review by
Ok, so it's small - that is something you can tell by the picture and that is not why this is a pathetic item. I bought one to try and build before I bought 50 of them for a Pack of Cub Scouts - good thing I did this. First, the instructions are hideous - the part list indicates that there are 2 coils of wire (2 @ 40 inches = total of 80 inches). My kit came with a single coil and it was 80 inches - but it said 2 NOT 1 coil, causes one to pause and have to figure out things. No not hard but it does make one question if there are other things no accurate??? I expected I would have had to do some pre-building for the boys; however, after completing the kit it failed to work - I am an engineer and after about 90 minutes of tweaking and testing with a meter I finally got it working (somewhat). The Field is not precise and hence it needed a little tweaking as well. With all the tweaking and building - this kit took over 3 hours and I know none of my boys would like the end result - it just is a weak product. Not worth it at all :(
Obvious if you ask me! Review by
Yes it is small, that should be obvious from the dimensions of the unit in relation to the AA battery retention clips. With this in mind, I disagree about the Photo being misleading.
Misleading Photo Review by
This thing is exactly what the description says, but A LOT smaller than it appears in the picture. Just be advised that it is about 5 square inches in area.
