Desiccators allow you to cool and store objects in a low-humidity atmosphere. This economy glass 200 mm (8") desiccator is made from annealed glass for durability. It includes a glazed porcelain sample plate 185 mm diameter with seven holes ranging in size from 25-35 mm diameter. The plate sits about 4 cm above the bottom, leaving plenty of space for desiccant.

For an airtight seal, apply silicone grease (not included, available at hardware stores) to the internal ground flange edges of both the base and cover, press the cover on and rotate at least 360 degrees. Use anhydrous calcium chloride or another suitable desiccant material.

This 200 mm desiccator is very economical. It may have flaws in the glass or even small chips that do not affect the seal, durability, or operation of the desiccator. The overall size of this desiccator is about 27 cm (10.6") diameter and 28 cm tall (11").
