WorksReviewed By: S. McCloskey Works as expected but not as fast as I have read about on other websites. Don't expect to take the jar out on the hunt with you as it takes too long for the critters to die. As a general guide for killing butterflies/moths of various sizes I have found the following:
3"-4" 60+ minutes
1"-2" 15-20 minutes
1/2"-1" 10-15 minutes
I found one drop of ethyl acetate in the killing jar is not enough for the 2"+ butterflies. I'd recommend putting in 1 drop per inch of wing span. That seems to do the trick. Just remember these comments are estimates not a scientific study. I have found some butterfly species live longer then others of comparable size.
