This attractive set of butterflies and other insects from Thailand comes complete with everything you need to make your own exotic insect collection and display. The insect specimens range from a 15mm (0.6") iridescent Leaf Beetle to a 110mm (4.4") Swallowtail Butterfly. The vibrant colors and unusual nature of these specimens are a great way to create interest in entomology.Shipping Note: This item only ships to a street address in the 50 US states with Standard or UPS shipping options.
Kit Contents
- 10 exotic insect specimens packaged in glassine envelopes or papered (you will need to spread these before displaying them)
- A standard 8" x 12" glass-top exhibit case with pinning board
- A 4" x 12" insect spreading board (to prepare your insects for display)
- 100 No. 2 stainless steel insect pins
- Instructions for relaxing and pinning your insects
The 10 specimens typically include these:
- Danaus genutia genutia (Tiger Butterfly), 90mm wingspan
- Graphium doson (Common Jay), 60mm wingspan
- Papilio helenus (Swallowtail Butterfly), 110mm wingspan
- Penthicodes caja (Lanternfly), 50mm wingspan
- Aristobia approximator (Longhorn Beetle), 20mm length
- Prosopocoilus astacoides (Stag Beetle), 50mm length
- Xylotrupes Gideon (Rhinoceros Beetle), 45mm length
- Sagra longicollis (Leaf Beetle), 15mm length
- Chrysochroa rajah thailandica (Metallic Woodborer), 40mm length
- Aristobia voeti (Longhorn Beetle), 35mm length
Substitutions are occasionally made with similar insects.
Note: Most of these specimens are grade A1 quality, but some may have broken legs or antennae that need to be glued in place. At this low price, we are unable to guarantee specimen quality.
