In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Home Science Tools announced a voluntary product recall of its 3” Alnico Bar Magnets, shipped between 5/8/2008 and 9/12/2008.

We sold these magnets as our item number MG-BAR3AL during this period and also included these magnets in several of our science kits.

Surface paint on these magnets contains levels of lead that violate the federal lead paint standard.
If you purchased this item from Home Science Tools between 5/8/08 and 9/12/08, you should immediately stop using the recalled magnet and contact us at 1-800-860-6272 or email service@homesciencetools.com to arrange for return of the defective magnets and to receive free replacement magnets which are in compliance with the Consumer Product Safety Commission requirements.

The recalled Alnico bar magnets are 3” long, painted red and blue, were originally packaged as a pair, and look like the picture to the right. Please examine any magnets you have and compare them with this description and photo.
