What a great product! Wow! Cool! Interesting! These were the words my children and students used to describe the Fischertechnik Universal Machines II kit. We worked these models into our elementary science and physics lessons to demonstrate concepts of mechanical advantage with inclined planes, gear & pulley systems, fulcrums, wheels, axles, and other engineering principles. Building the models for themselves was so much more interesting to them than just watching a demonstration conducted at the front of the room! We found the model components were very sturdy with strong fasteners that did not fall apart as we worked with them. The wordless manual with step-by-step color pictures illustrating how to assemble the models allowed my reluctant reader to construct the models independently while developing mechanical and mental skills that weren't approached by other construction sets we have tried. This kit was a good value and included a combination of some models from the Universal kit and the Mechanic and Static kit. We were very pleased with this item!
