Watch these fluorescent minerals change color under ultraviolet light! This set of 10 specimens fluoresce into bright greens, reds, oranges and more under "shortwave" ultraviolet light, peaking at a 254 nm wavelength. More minerals in nature fluoresce under shortwave light than longwave, so the included ultraviolet lamp (254 nm) is useful for expanding your own collection! In addition to the minerals (such as calcite, chalcedony, talc, and willemite), this kit comes a 60-pp booklet with tips for identifying fluorescent minerals. You provide four AA batteries. Ages 10 & up.

Note: UV light is the part of sun light that causes sunburns. Never look directly at UV bulbs and wear UV filtering goggles if using for extended periods.
