This Ammonite fossil from Morocco has been cut into a cross-section and then polished on the top surface and sides. It's in brown limestone matrix. The Ammonite fossil is 2"- 2.5" in diameter and the entire piece is 2.5"-3" in diameter. It is a nice collection piece and also makes an attractive decorating or conversation item for home or office.

Ammonites are extinct marine animals from the class Cephalopoda and phylum Mollusca. They have a closely-spiraled shell that is composed of multiple compartments. Their closest modern relative is the Nautilus.
