Frog, (grass or bullfrog), 4 to 5-1/2"
This extra large preserved frog specimen is either a bullfrog or grass frog, depending on availability. Vessels are double injected with red and blue latex. The large size and injected vessels are superior for frog dissections. Genus is typically Rana forreri or Rana catesbeiana.
Note: Dissection specimens are initially preserved with a formaldehyde solution, the best animal tissue fixative. The formaldehyde is then displaced first with water and finally with a glycol solution to produce a moist, low-fume specimen which can be stored almost indefinitely. We recommend that you use specimens within one year of purchase to ensure the best tissue quality. Specimen discoloration over time is normal and does not indicate decay.
Store your frog dissection specimens at normal room temperature--refrigeration is
not required. Storage in attics or garages at high temperatures will damage the specimens. Once opened, specimens can be resealed in a Zip-lock bag to prevent them from drying out for later use.

Double Injected FrogsReviewed By: Kim Hutto I ordered this frog for my 8th grade daughter who is interested in biology and medicine. The frog was great--the double injected colors were easy to see and the large size of the frog made dissection a breeze for a first-timer. We will do this activity again!

Double Injected Frogs We used these frogs for a dissection lab for homeschooled students. These frogs were a great size and the organs were easily identifiable. We would highly recommend these for a good dissecting experience.

Large Frog Specimens This specimen was perfect for my middle school group. The size allowed for groups of three to observe without having to worry about students leaning over tools and other things on the table. The entire order, specimens and tools, were great quality.
