Glo Germ Powder Kit
This unique Glo Germ™ Powder experiment kit is a memorable way to show how germs spread and how important it is to keep surfaces clean! It can be easily adapted for a great science fair project.
This experiment kit comes with a 4-oz. bottle of Glo Germ™ powder, which simulates the behavior of real germs when you sprinkle it on a countertop, fresh fruits and vegetables, or the outside of other objects. Using the included UV black light, these "germs" will glow and show kids how clean or dirty something is as well as how easy it is to spread germs from one surface to another. Comes with directions for completing three experiments. Batteries included. The 4 ounce bottle is sufficient for hundreds of demonstrations.
Science Fair Project Ideas:
- Test different soaps and cleaners by washing a counter or other
smooth surface after sprinkling powder over it. Can you still see
the "germs" when you turn on the black light?
- Sprinkle the powder on fresh fruits and vegetables, then wash
them, and test with the black light. Does using soap, a rag,
or a scrub brush remove more powder?
- What temperature of water is most effective at removing the
powder from vegetables or a countertop?

Can be used with many subjects!Reviewed By: Christina M. I am a career discovery teacher teaching a unit on health/science. I try to teach the students how dirty everything is by just showing them the disinfecting wipes I use every afternoon to clean the tables, but this does not work. So, I dusted the powder on JUST the back of the chairs they sat in and at the end of class (talking about germs), I turned off the light and showed them where they all touched around the room. They were amazed (and disgusted) at how they managed to spread that powder. After this, I asked them to use proper hand washing techniques and then put the light on their hands again, and showed how even proper techniques didn't get all the "dirt and germs" off their hands.

How germs really do spread!Reviewed By: Lilly This is a great thing for some kids to demonstrate to other kids of 'How Germs can Spread'. You should pick some students from the class to put the glo germ powder on their hands. After about 15 minutes of class time, the students you had picked to put it on their hands should have had touched a lot of other students to spread the powder. Turn out the lights then go around the room seeing how many people have the powder on them. This will show them how germs can spread. They will imagine that if that powder was real germs. First tell them they are real germs just for a few seconds to see how they react then tell them about the glo germ kit. That's how herms can be spread! It would be a smart move to buy this product!! I voted 5 STARS!!

Using with Bacteria StudyReviewed By: Christina Brock I'm teaching a unit study on bacteria to middle schoolers (homeschool co-op) and both the glow in the dark powder and lotion have been a big hit. I know the kids are washing a lot more thoroughly now!
