Grasshopper, Lubber, large
Our plain preserved Lubber grasshoppers are large 3" Grade A. Genus and species can vary but is typically
Romalea microptera.
Note: Dissection specimens are initially preserved with a formaldehyde solution, the best available animal tissue fixative. Then, the formaldehyde is displaced first in a water bath and finally in a bath of glycol solution. This process inhibits the growth of decay organisms while lowering residual formaldehyde concentration. The result is a moist, low-fume specimen which can be stored almost indefinitely. We do recommend that you use specimens within one year of purchase to ensure the best tissue quality.
Shipping Note: This item only ships to a street address in the 50 US states with Standard or UPS shipping options.

Excellent SpecimensReviewed By: Michele Lawson My students were impressed with the size and the condition of these grasshoppers. They were shipped in excellent condition and there was very little damage to any of the specimens. Thanks for giving my biology class a great specimen to dissect.

Very LargeReviewed By: Tina Craig That is one HUGE grasshopper!! I did not know that they got that big! I was able to identify
all the outer parts, but messed up the cut to see the inner organs. Still very cool, if you have the guts. Just to say this, when we took the grasshopper out of the bag, one of its legs
was broken off. We found TWO spare legs in the bag. Was that intentional?
[Home Science Tools adds: Occasionally the legs of these preserved grasshoppers do come off and might stick to another grasshopper while being packaged.]
