features and good quality as other high school level microscopes, but at an
excellent price. This microscope has standard 40x, 100x, and 400x magnification

Good Quality and Easy to UseReviewed By: Melanie We recently purchased this microscope and upon arrival we set it up and looked at every slide. My son was amazed at the clarity and detail we could achieve. He found it easy to use from the start. We look forward to incorporating it into our science curriculum this year.

Home Iris Diaphragm MicroscopeReviewed By: Kim Bastante I was intimidated and clueless about purchasing a microscope and consulted friends who led me to an online buying guide. After much comparison and analysis, I decided to purchase the Home Iris Diaphragm Microscope from Home Science Tools because it had all the features we needed and desired at the best price. Customer Service was exceedingly knowledgable and clearly answered all of my questions. The microscope arrived promptly, packaged securely, and the instructions were clear and easy to follow.
The microscope is real quality! My girls and I love this microscope and are so blessed to have found it. We highly recommend it. Many thanks to all involved in our microscope selection process!

Home Iris Diaphragm MicroscopeReviewed By: Rich Engle I purchased this product and the complete elementary slide set for our seven year old son as a Christmas present. He uses a similar microscope in his classroom at school. I was happy that he showed great interest with the microscope in the midst of new video games and other toys that he received.
After we had examined the set of prepared slides, we looked at water samples from our koi pond and he was amazed at the plethora of organisms we could see right from our back yard. We even got to examine the pesky string algae that troubles me in the pond.
While he is learning to use the features of the microscope, my son and I get to spend hours together preparing slides and exploring the microscopic universe. This unit will serve us for years to come. When he is older we might upgrade to the 1000x model, but for a first microscope this cannot be beat. The adjustable iris comes in handy when viewing water samples with both transparent and translucent organisms such as paramecia and algae. The cool fluorescent lighting provides plenty of uniform illumination and does not kill the microbes.
Another nice result of this purchase is that my son can use his imagination and creativity to think of possibilities for us to examine.
Tremendous value; I would recommend this to anyone.

Home MicroscopeReviewed By: Lucinda Messman This Microscope works great! We did add the mechanical stage (an extremely useful accessory). We purchased this for our high school student, but now all of our younger kids use it as well. Our old "student" microscopes seldom see use anymore. This microscope is very simple to use and clean. So far (1.5 yrs) we haven't had any issues. It has definitely been worth the investment.
