Steam Engine Model 70
Steam engines are fascinating to observe and experiment with as they convert energy from one form to another. Each classic Jensen Model 70 Steam Engine is built by hand using the same manufacturing processes since 1923! It features quality workmanship and materials, like a seamless nickel-plated brass boiler, nickel-plated engine, hand-painted 3" flywheel, and double-acting oscillating cylinder engine. The Model 70 steam engine is powered by a 110-volt 400-watt electric heater in the 2.5" x 6" boiler, to provide a low-cost, continuous power supply. The electric energy is converted to thermal energy in the boiler, the thermal energy is converted to kinetic energy in the steam, and the kinetic energy is converted to mechanical energy in the cylinder. Harness the mechanical energy of the pulley on the rotating flywheel to drive simple mechanical machinery or even an electric generator. Operating this steam engine provides a fun way to learn about energy conversion for a school or science fair project! This steam engine comes fully assembled and includes an operating manual. The size is approximately 9" x 9" at the base and 9" high. Ages 13 and up.
