so-soReviewed By: Esther I'm not the type to complain too much. I like to see the positive side of things. But I was really quite disapointed with this product.
Times have been tight and this was the one and only Christmas present my son got from his mom and dad this last year. He had been wanting it for a long time and was so excited to open up this gift!
But then it was very overwhelming for him to put together for himself. He had to wait days and days until I had some spare time to help him with it. And I ended up putting most of it together myself. It was even kind of stressful for me and I'm pretty good at paying attention to detail and following instruction manuals.
Once I got it all together it didn't work very well. The legs would go a few steps and then stop. We were clapping/shouting and putting on quite a show to get this robot to hear us and move! So I read the trouble shooting tips and started making some adjustments as was recommended in the manual. That's when some of the pieces broke. So I had to order a new circuit board and microphone. That cost about $20!! But I didn't want him to not have fun with his one and only Christmas present so I scraped up the money and sent in the order for the replacement pieces.
They parts came and we put it all together. The same problem happened again! Only it did walk about 4 steps instead of 2. (woo hoo) So again I read how to properly adjust things and the variable resistor broke off! bah!
So much for fun robot Christmas present. I give up!
[Home Science Tools adds: If you have a defective product, we are happy to give you a refund or have the manufacturer send you a replacement item. In this case we provided Esther with a gift certificate so she could order a different item for her son. We don't want you to be frustrated with the products you order from us!]

Robot KitsReviewed By: Dixie Black I bought both the Rockit Robot and Jungle Robot kits for my grandson. His dad helped him assemble the kits and was really enjoying how they worked. Very informative on how robots work.

Fun ToyReviewed By: Michelle Copher My 10-year-old put this kit together with lots of help from his dad. It's a great toy and he loves it. He learned a little about robotics, but the information in the package, both assembly directions and information about robots and robotics could have been more complete.

Jungle Robot KitReviewed By: KL This is a good starter kit - not too complicated, and quick to make progress on. My daughter opened it and started on it as soon as it came. The one drawback is that the directions are not as good as they could be- the pictures are accurate, but the language isn't. For instance the text might tell you to do something with a part "m" while the parts only go from "a" through "i". It isn't difficult to figure out what you are supposed to do, but I might try a different manufacturer when we get an intermediate or advanced robot kit.

This was Fun When I was 9 years old I built this robot kit by myself and it was fun. I showed it as part of my science fair project on technology. This is a great product.
