Mechanical stage
Enhance your compound microscope with this mechanical stage! It will make using your microscope much easier, allowing you to precisely control slide movement so accidental bumping won't knock your microscope slide out of focus and so you can systematically scan the slide to view the entire specimen. It provides 65 mm movement on the X-axis and 25 mm on the Y-axis. Just insert a slide between the stage clips, and turn the adjustment knobs to position the slide where you want.
You can quickly attach it to a full-size microscope pre-drilled for a mechanical stage, like our Home or Advanced microscopes. Dimensions are 5" wide by 4 1/2" deep.

It is also easier to return to features on the slide, or to direct multiple users to features, simply by re-locating them with the X-Y co-ordinates. It installs in less than a minute, and it is very user friendly especially for young hands. Highly recommended. - Wednesday, January 11, 2012 Right SizeReviewed By: Bob Hoffmeyer Right Price - Thursday, September 29, 2011 Worth every penny!Reviewed By: Jane Dean If you are spending the money on a microscope, get this accessory! It makes scanning, finding what you want, so much easier, especially when you have multiple users, so the slide gets moved around alot for each one to look. - Monday, September 26, 2011 Handy and Well Worth the PriceReviewed By: Denise Boiko I've been teaching biology in a homeschool group class environment for more than five years, and it's now a routine for me that whenever we buy a new microscope, I order a mechanical stage too. I even went back and installed them on the other scopes purchased or donated before I started teaching. Being able to move the slide around precisely and accurately, especially when only a small movement is needed, is a valuable timesaver in a busy classroom, but is equally valuable at home. Nothing is more frustrating than "losing" the intriguing or puzzling part of the specimen after moving the slide a little too much, and this mechanical stage prevents that. The stage is very easy to install and use. My one comment is that after installing it, the microscope will take up more space in the styrofoam box, so you need to either carve out some of the styrofoam to allow for the projecting part of the device, or find another convenient way to store the microscope without needing the styrofoam box. - Thursday, May 26, 2011 An enjoyable purchaseReviewed By: Jerry E. Shepherd The quality of the product speaks for itself. It works as advertized. What was unexpected was How quickily the package arrived and the feedback about the shipments status. I received an email update within hours about it's being shipped. I couldn't believe my eyes when the package arrived within two days of it's order, in protective packaging that reflect's this companies dedication to serving their customers in a timely and proffesional manner. We were having a tough time scanning slides without the mechanical stage but now using the microscope is a breeze. The kids spent all afternoon preparing and examining slides the very first day it came out of the box. We love it! Thanks for offering this exceptional product.
- Saturday, March 14, 2009 Mechanical Marvel Reviewed By: Pam Berrigan After using microscopes with mechanical stages in college, I was spoiled. A friend lent our biology class a 'scope without a stage and I vowed my next microscope would have a stage. They make systematically scanning the entire slide a breeze. The microscope we have at co-op is absent a stage and the kids have a hard time doing the scanning. The stage clips have a tendency to be pushed aside as they try to scan, which means there is a greater chance the slide will fall and break. If you don't have, save up.
- Sunday, October 08, 2006 Scanning is 100% easier! I held out for 3 years, didn't want to spend an extra $30. It was money well spent! We can scan our slides thoroughly, track amoebas and even dinoflagellates all without losing focus at 400x.
- Wednesday, October 04, 2006 helpful to have Reviewed By: Dianna Steiner I wouldn't want to use a microscope without this. It is worth getting!
