MicroChem Classroom Kit
This is the MicroChem kit designed for two students working the labs together. It includes two manuals and two sets of safety goggles.
This excellent microchemistry lab can be used as a stand alone lab course or in conjunction with any high school chemistry curriculum. It contains experiments that explore 17 chemistry concepts: chromatography, melting points, conductivity of solutions, mole ratios, double replacement reactions, oxidation-reduction reactions, decomposition, Charles' Law, Boyle's Law, hydrated salts, pH and pH indicators, titration, molar mass, buffer solutions, concentration and reaction rates, temperature and reaction rates, and galvanic cells.
Microchemistry (micro-scale chemistry) is ideally suited for home labs. It reduces prep time and lab costs while minimizing chemical use and disposal. The kit includes a complete lab manual with solutions in the back, 22 chemicals, and micro-scale lab equipment. In addition, the labs have been correlated with the A Beka, Bob Jones, and Apologia chemistry curriculum. You will need to provide a few household materials and a heat source (we recommend an alcohol lamp). A digital multimeter is required for an optional lab. Safety gloves are also recommended.Grades 8-12.

This is an excellent chemistry set. Safety - the quantities and concentrations are small enough that disposal is not an issue.
Learning - The experiments are real. For example the value we came up with for absolute zero was only off by five percent. The reactions are quick and there are enough chemicals to perform them several times in a row to really see the concept.
Quality - I had one set for about five years and then bought another set two years ago. Nothing has ever broken.

My children and I love the experiments. Easy to follow and the kids are finding learning fun. Thanks.

Since most universities require high school lab credits (if the student will be going for a Bachelor of Science degree) before acceptance, we opted to start our 9th grade Chemistry labs using this kit. So far it has been not only educational, but fun. The experiments are well thought out, and perfect for the skill level we're at. This kit is definitely the best starting point for a homeschool chemistry curriculum and being a classroom kit, has enough supplies for both the student and the teacher. Now we're looking forward to supplementing our lab with additional supplies from HomeScienceTools.
