One of the best science kits I have come across in 20 years. Well made components were easy to assemble. In part of an hour both my 12 and 10 year-olds figured out the entire assembly and how to run the motor. For example, they could reverse the direction of rotation by reversing the polarity of the battery, or reversing the polarity of the magnet. Also included in the kit, but not shown in the picture, is an optional field coil (electromagnet) that can replace the permanent magnet. It is about the same size as the electromagnet and can be put in parallel (or series) with the rotating armature. I especially like the robust brush and commutator design which is usually the weak spot in other motor kits. Highly recommended. Should last for years.
