My children enjoyed finding out how much they would weigh on the moon and how high they could jump there. I like that the activities mostly call for materials that we already have around our home. We made a sundial with just a pencil and paper plate! This book is filled with lots of activities as well as easy-to-read information about sky-watching, using binoculars, how to buy a telescope, etc. You will read interesting information about the sun, moon, stars, planets, and other features in the sky. My only objection is the authors' obvious assumption of an old earth and belief in the "big bang". The activities from this book can be used to supplement another astronomy curriculum though and thus give you a complete beginning astronomy course. |
