Owl pellet, large
This is a 1-1/2" or larger owl pellet without instructions. This owl pellet is discount priced and ideal for classroom situations when you don't need instructions or you want to print instructions from our
Owl Pellet Lab. Each pellet is foil wrapped and heat sterilized.
Owl pellets are the regurgitated remains of an owl's meal, including all the bones of the animals it ate. Owls usually swallow their food whole, digest the edible parts, and then expel the indigestible parts through their mouth as a pellet.
Our owl pellets have been heat sterilized for a minimum of 10 hours at 280°F to kill any bacteria on them. Even so, we recommend that you follow these guidelines when working with owl pellets:
- Work in a place separate from eating and food preparation areas.
- Use disposable gloves during the dissection and cleanup.
- Use a disposable plate to contain the owl pellet during dissection.
- Kids like to use our economical plastic forceps to take apart the owl pellet.
- Use a sanitizer to thoroughly wash hands, work area, and any dissection tools when finished. Household bleach in a 1:10 solution can be used for surfaces.

Totally Cool-FAST SHIPPING!Reviewed By: Ruth Having never dissected Owl pellets before, our home school Co-op group was amazed at the "fun finds" waiting for us inside. After dissection, we had the students hot glue their skeletons to construction paper and displayed our scientific art. The experiment was easy to do and the children, in 6-7th grades loved it. We used these to correspond with Apologia's Zoology 3 text, which we also purchased through Home Science Tools. I want to especially thank you for shipping them so quickly after I ordered. Fast shipping is one of the reasons why our family returns over and over to HST for our home school needs. Blessings!

Owl Pellets - Fun Learning! We used the owl pellets for a 1st grade co-op classroom. It was a huge hit! I was afraid some of the kids wouldn't want to touch them or think they were gross! But everyone including some Moms (helpers) were digging in. It was so interesting. We found several skulls and were able to piece together several skeletons. The students were amazed and learned so much. They were talking about the activity for weeks after. Highly recommend.

Owl Pellets- Great Hands On Learning!Reviewed By: Maria We ordered the Owl Kit and 4 extra owl pellets to do for an afternoon activity in our homeschool and we loved them! My kids, 10,8, and 6 all loved them. At first, the youngest called himself the camera man. But, it wasn't too long before he asked for a pair of gloves so he could join in. We found at least two or more skulls in each pellet and many bones. We have yet to complete putting together an entire animal but what we have done so far has been so much fun and great hands on learning!

Owl Pellets Are the Coolest Thing Ever!!!Reviewed By: Tara I ordered the owl pellet kit and an extra owl pellet. My boys are ages 5 and 12. We had never examined owl pellets before and thought we might be lucky to find one tiny bone that could be recognized. Boy were we in for a surprise! Both of the pellets contained not only lots and lots of bones that were easy to see what they were, but both pellets also contained at least two skulls! My boys were thrilled! By husband and I were just as excited as the children were. We had never gotten to do any thing like this when we were in school. My children couldn't wait to show the contents of their owl pellets to their grandparents the next day. Everyone has been fascinated by this experience. I would highly recommend the owl pellets to anyone. Thank you Home Science Tools for a great product!!!
