Glad we were able to order this for the science experiment.
on the weak side

I do have the gene to taste the PTC, however, I could not taste a thing when I demonstrated to my children. Then I suggested chewing the paper a bit, and then it could be tasted. You should just be able to touch it to your tongue and taste it, however that is not the case with these. Take a couple and chew, that should do the trick...

I ordered the PTC paper strips for a genetics experiment with our biology class. The papers are quite weak, but after a couple of minutes on the tongue (or chewing the paper) most "Tasters" could taste the bitterness. I can't say these worked as well as I had hoped, but we managed. I couldn't beat the price though. The products were packaged well and shipped promptly by HST.

The papers we received were very weak. (Not the fault of Home Science Tools, though. They did a good job with quick delivery.) Compared to past PTC papers we've had, these were very weak. You had to really chew on the paper to be able to taste even a little bitterness. (I ordered three bottles and they were all the same.) So if you don't taste anything right away, chew on the paper a bit before concluding you are not a "taster."

I had a whim to test everyone I knew for PTC sensitivity, and ordering here let me do just that. Fun product, works perfectly.
