(PicoTurbine Savonius Wind Turbine V2
The Savonius Wind Turbine V2 kit is a fully functioning miniature vertical windmill. At wind speeds of 12 mph it produces up to 3.0V/50mA AC current. The top and based are built from craft wood coated with enamel to help protect it from the elements. The kit comes with sets of recycled plastic s-foils and blades, 4 ceramic grade-five magnets, pre-wound 4 (220)-turn copper coils. A digital multimeter is not required but may be helpful in measuring how much electricity is being produced.
The Savonius Wind Turbine V2 kit is ideal for science fair projects, classroom demonstrations, and home schooling. The wind turbine can be customized with alternate or additional coils and magnets for a more extensive learning experience. While this kit can be built and operated by children 10 and up, it was designed to work alongside high school to undergraduate science classes studying alternative energy, magnetic induction, alternating current, and aerodynamic principles. Ages 12 & up.
