This product is an incredible buy! For his Christmas present, I purchased this kit for my 7 yr. old nephew. We did all of the projects together. It facilitated his curiosity as well as provided educational information. I was a little disappointed that there weren't a few more actual activities with rocks. However, my nephew liked this kit so much, he asked for another science kit. I will definitely oblige.

though my geode was a dud. I would like it if they fixed this.

I purchased this kit to do a unit on identifying minerals with my kids. It exceeded my expectations. I just added a small bottle of Hcl (hydrochloric acid) and we have everything we need to identify our minerals. I'm using lesson plans from the Marcia Kresch Science Teaching Ideas website and this is the kit that she recommended. I thought it was an excellent price for all that you get with it. After the minerals unit, we will do a unit on the rock cycle and will use the rock specimens for that. It also includes a color diagram of the rock cycle, cut out patterns for 3-D crystal shapes and a project booklet. The "Crystal Rock Garden" is a bag of two "flowering rocks' with instructions to fill a dish with vinegar, add the rocks and they will start "growing" crystals in hours. My kids (ages 7 & 9) will love it. Delivery was quick too.
