Squid, 8-12", plain
Do a squid dissection to learn about its respiratory, circulatory, excretory, reproductive, digestive, nervous, skeletal, and muscular systems. This plain preserved squid specimen is typically genus
Loligo.
Note: Dissection specimens are initially preserved with a formaldehyde solution, the best animal tissue fixative. The formaldehyde is then displaced first with water and finally with a glycol solution to produce a moist, low-fume specimen which can be stored almost indefinitely. We recommend that you use specimens within one year of purchase to ensure the best tissue quality. Specimen discoloration over time is normal and does not indicate decay.
Store your specimens at normal room temperature--refrigeration is
not required. Storage in attics or garages at high temperatures will damage the specimens. Once opened, specimens can be resealed in a Zip-lock bag to prevent them from drying out for later use.
Shipping Note: This item only ships to a street address in the 50 US states with Standard or UPS shipping options.

Larger than I thought!Reviewed By: Nashia The boys had a great time with their uncle working on the squid today. It was much larger than I expected. It did seem a bit tougher than other specimens we had ordered and the organs were somewhat difficult to access. But overall, everyone who was involved gave it 2 thumbs up!

Squid, 8-12", plain My son's eyes lit up when I pulled the squid out of the box for him to dissect. Your company has everything a homeschooler needs for teaching science and at an affordable price! Thanks! Rebecca Bishop

Wonderful Experience My sons ages 8,6, and 4 , thoroughly enjoyed this hands on specimen. It was large and easy to see various parts. It was a great addition to our oceanography unit. Well worth the money!

Great Specimen!Reviewed By: Susan Martin My son is very interested in Giant Squid, so I bought this squid specimen for us to dissect and help us learn about squid in general. The specimen was larger than I expected and very easy to dissect. We learned they have two tentacles and eight arms, and you can tell their sex by examining one of the arms. We easily saw the siphon (just like a jet ski!), ink sack, beak, gills, and muscles. We had a harder time identifying the reproductive organs, but it was a great learning experience for our whole family.
