It had all the extras, but if I had to choose, this is the one! The first day was spent looking at three different spiders, (watched some eggs hatching), beetles, a locust coming out of the shell, butterflies, ditch water, and more. Whether for basic lab use or home schooling, this is the one to own.
It's possible to view live specimins, but be sure to order at least one package of plastic petri dishes. They are an absolute must for this puropse. Also, a dissecting kit, or at least forceps and probes should be considered. And, if live specimins are to be preserved, jars and dispatching needs are required. Be prepared when this unit arrives, as the young ones will have to fight the adults for use of this scope.
 - Tuesday, July 28, 2009 Really nice!Reviewed By: Tom I'm a biology major at Fort Lewis College in Durango Colorado. I've been in several chem and bio labs and used $3000 to $5000 dollar microscopes. This scope is sooo worth the price. I've had a ball with it this summer.
Sincerely,
Tom
Bionerd ha ha - Monday, January 19, 2009 Expensive - But Worth It!Reviewed By: Debbie Hinks We kept putting this purchase off due to the cost. But, the more children I had, the more I saw a need for this in our science program. We have a nice microscope, but students of all ages - especially the kindergarten/elementary age have a better grasp of magnification when you start with seeing a 'large item' such as a hair, an insect, etc magnified maybe 20X or 40X, and then go to the 100X maginification of the microscope. We leave this out all the time and is fun to use :-) And that is a great teaching goal - science in everyday life! - Sunday, December 28, 2008 Stereo Microscope 20/40x It is difficult to buy a microscope over the internet because the quality can be difficult to judge without getting your hands on it and looking through it. Fortunately we took the plunge and bought this microscope. It was well worth the money. This is one item where it is important not to buy an inferior product. We began looking at rocks, leaves, flowers, etc immediately after it arrived. My 6 and 7 year old boys loved it. They immediately picked up on how to use it and how to handle it properly. I expected to get one eventually and I'm glad that we didn't wait because we will get more use out of it now. We're very happy with the easy of use and the quality of the images. - Saturday, December 20, 2008 stereo microscope 20/40xReviewed By: Pavel S I use expensive microscopes at work and know what really good optics is like. This little instrument is of terrific quality, and well worth its price. It far exceeded my expectations. Don't be tempted by 200-500 power toy microscopes. This one is a real learning tool, and will delight you and your children for a very long time. We waited for years to own one of these and I can't believe how many times I wished I owned one. We keep it out so we can quickly examine even bread crumbs! A great way to increase curiosity and knowledge even among junior high and senior high kids. Worth every penny!
- Wednesday, July 09, 2008 Stereo Microscope Reviewed By: Hal Whiting This arrived today. My kids will not let me use it. They are both so involved in looking at their mineral samples with it. They even have the neighbor kids over looking at stuff. This is one of the nicest and easiest to use microscopes I have seen. The optics are excellent. We are not going to be looking for molecules with it but it is incredible for examining plants, minerals, dirt, bugs, dollar bills, and everything else they can find to go under it. Way to go Home Science Tools!!!

- Monday, February 04, 2008 Definitely not a toy! Reviewed By: Deidre Webb This cost more than most student microscopes, but is well worth the investment. It is very heavy-duty and easy to use. My kids will be using this for years to come.
- Friday, October 12, 2007 Stereo Microscope 20/40X We LOVE this stereoscope! We are able to take even the seemingly ugliest things (dead grasshopper, mold, etc.) and see the beauty of God's creation through a keener eye. It is a perfect addition to our education.
